Hiking
Yellowwood Lake Trail surrounds Yellowwood Lake. It is about five miles long and goes through various habitats. Two sections pass through a fragrant pine forest. Yellowwood Lake Trail also passes through some magnificent forestland. It is about a two to three hour hike. Other trails include the four-mile Scarce O' Fat Trail and the one and one half mile Jackson Creek Trail. The Resource Management Trail is a one and one-half mile self-guiding educational trail. Pick up a brochure at the Park Office, just across the road. The forty-two mile Tecumseh Trail also passes through Yellowwood. http://www.hoosierhikerscouncil.org/tecumseh-trail/
This trail begins in Morgan-Monroe State Forest and traverses the Indiana countryside on its way to its trailhead in the Hoosier State Forest. Find more information about this trail at the link.

Fishing and Boating
Yellowwood Lake is open for fishing and boating. The DNR limits boat motors to electric trolling motors and anglers will need an Indiana State Fishing License. Since this is a mixed-use facility, hunters are allowed to hunt for deer, turkey, rabbits and squirrels. Hikers should wear hunter orange during hunting season. Hunters will need a current Indiana Hunting license.
Horseback Riding
Equestrians will find a ten site primitive horseman's campground at Yellowwood. They will find around twenty miles of horse trails. "W" Horse Trail connects with the Brown County State Park trail system.
Camping
The Primitive Class C campground has about eighty sites. There are no shower facilities but there are vault toilets and running water nearby. There is also a carry in tent campground north of the Park Office. The Campground has a playground nearby.
Gold Panning
Budding prospectors can obtain a free gold panning permit to use at Yellowwood or at Morgan Monroe State Forests. The use of a pick, shovel or any other tool to displace soil is forbidden, but panning for gold is permissible, with the permit. Any archaeological like arrowheads, bones and pottery should be turned in to the office. For a permit, call if you cannot visit during opens hours.  (812) 988-7945
