April 09, 1904 - John H Haines Holds Meeting for Boys About Corn - First 4-H Club
Hamilton County School superintendent John H. Haines held a meeting for boys interested in growing corn on April 9, 1904. There had been previous "corn clubs" in Ohio, but this was the first recorded one in Indiana. The Junior Corn Club reportedly had ninety-three kids in the first class. The kids attended two classes and Mr. Haines visit Ted the corn growing projects. The boys exhibited their corn at the end of the season.
