Great Miami River

A Visit to Aurora and Lawrenceburg, Indiana
A Visit to Aurora and Lawrenceburg, Indiana

The Great Miami River is in the state of Ohio for the vast majority of its length. The final half mile or so is in Dearborn County, just east of Lawrenceburg. The mouth of the river is in Ohio, but one channel does enter the Ohio River in Indiana. The Great Miami River actually snakes into Indiana twice. It enters, flowing northwest, then turns back east and reenters Ohio for a short time and then turns southwest entering Indiana for the last time. The river then turns southeast, enters Ohio and finally pours its waters into the Ohio River. All of this happens inside the Interstate 275 loop.
