While Gladys Russell is a wildlife preserve with excellent opportunities for bird watching, it also offers a number of low intensity uses including hiking, picnicking, horseback riding, and fishing. After water and sanitary facilities are added, activity by larger groups, such as family reunions, will be possible.

Located in west central Dearborn County (Manchester Township), Gladys Russell Wildlife refuge offers 148 acres with over four miles of walking/riding trails, a six acre lake for fishing, and a large meeting shelter with bathrooms.
