US Route 31
US Route 31 begins in the south at U.S. Route 90 & U.S. Route 98 at Spanish Fort, Alabama and travels north to Michigan, ending at at Interstate 75 near Mackinaw City, Michigan. It crosses Clark, Scott, Jackson, Bartholomew, Johnson, Marion, Hamilton, Tipton, Howard, Miami, Fulton, Marshall and St. Joseph counties.

US Route 31 In Indiana
US Route 31 enters Indiana from Louisville, Kentucky on the George Rogers Clark Bridge. For almost four miles it is a four lane highway, straddling Interstate 65. At the juntion of Indiana State Road 131 it joins again into one highway. It leaves Indiana, passing into Michigan, about two miles north of its intersection with Interstate 80 at Exit 72.

US 31 in Clark County
Length - About 23 Miles
US 31 crosses the Ohio River from Kentucky into Clarksville,  Indiana over the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge. It crosses Interstate 65 and has access to it via Exit 1. US 31 parallels Interstate 65 with Exits 4 and 5 where it reduces down to two lanes and diverges, forming the northwest border of  Jeffersonville. About 5.4 miles from the bridge it crosses Interstate 265 with no access to it. About 1.8 miles further north it intersects Indiana State Road 60 west of the Clark County Airport. 1.9 miles further north it intersects Indiana State Road 311 in Sellersburg. Less than a mile north Indiana State Road 403 branches off north. About 9.6 miles north of this intersection US 31 enters Henryville and crosses Indiana State Road 160. US 31 has access to Interstate 65 at this point via Indiana State Road 160 at Exit 19. About 4.3 miles north of Henryville US 31 exits Clark County and enters Scott County. On its way through Clark County, US 31 passes through Jeffersonville, Clarksville, Hamburg, Sellersburg, Speed, Perry Crossing, Memphis, Henryville and Underwood.

US 31 in Jackson County
Length - about 20 miles

US Route 31 enters Jackson County about .75 miles south of its intersection with Interstate 65</a>, which it accesses via Exit 36. It travels north through Crothersville to its intersection with Indiana State Road 250. Access to Interstate 65 is provided by Indiana State Road 250 via Exit 41. About 8.3 miles north of this intersection, it crosses US Route 50 about three miles east of Seymour</a>. Access to Interstate 65 is gained via US Route 50 at Exit 50. 7.4 miles north of this intersection US Route 31 leaves Jackson County after passing through Reddington, Indiana.

US Route 31 in Bartholomew County
Length - About 23 Miles
US Route 31 enters Bartholomew County about 7.3 miles north of its intersection with US 50 in Jackson County. 7.23 miles north of the county line US Route 31 intersects Indiana State Road 7 and .4 miles further north it intersects Indiana State Road 46. After passing through Columbus, Indiana and Taylorsville, Indiana about twelve miles later it intersects Interstate 65, and accesses it via Exit 76. About 3 miles from this interchange it skirts Edinburgh, Indiana and passes into Johnson County.
