Indiana State Road 46
The western terminus is located on US 40 4.4 miles from downtown Terre Haute Indiana. The eastern terminus for Indiana State Road 46 is on Indiana State Road 52 three and a half miles from downtown West Harrison Indiana. It crosses, from west to east, Vigo, Clay, Owen, Monroe, Brown, Bartholomew, Decatur, Franklin, Ripley, and Dearborn counties.

Indiana State Road 46 enters Monroe County, Indiana about 3.8 miles west of its intesection with Indiana State Road 67 in Spencer, Indiana. It intersects Indiana State Road 37 about 10.1 miles southeast of the county line on the northwest edge of Bloomington. About 3.7 miles east of this intersection it intersects Indiana State Road 45. Indiana State Road 446 intersects Indiana State Road 46 about two miles east of this intersection. Indiana State Road 46 exits Monroe County into Brown County about 6.2 miles east of this intersection.

Indiana State Road 46 enters Brown County about 6.25 miles east of its intersection with Indiana State Road 446 in Monroe C*/ounty. About 6.75 miles east of the county line the highway passes the western entrance to Brown County State Park. About 2.25 miles northeast of this entrance Indiana State Road 135 intersects the highway from the north in Nashville and follows Indiana State Road 46 for about 3 miles. Indiana State Road 46 passes the north entrance to Brown County State Park about 1.8 miles from the western intersection with Indiana State Road 135 in Nashville. About 6.25 miles east of the eastern intersection with Indiana State Road 135 Indiana State Road 46 leaves Brown County and enters Bartholomew County.

Length - About 27.5 miles
Indiana State Road 46 enters Bartholomew County from Brown County about 6.25 miles east of its intersection with Indiana State Road 135 in Brown County. It intersects Interstate 65 at Exit 68. About 1.5 miles east of the interstate Indiana State Road 46 intersects Indiana State Road 11 at the western edge of Columbus, Indiana. At this point Indiana State Road 46 becomes a one way street called Johnathan Moore Pike, and then Second Street after its intersection with Jackson Street. The westbound section, also one way, is one block north and is called Third Street until its intersection with Lindsay Street, when it becomes Lindsy Street. About 1.2 miles east of this intersection with Indiana State Road 11, Indiana State Road 46 intersects Indiana State Road 7, which it follows for about 3.89 miles, when Indiana State Road 7 continues southeast towards North Vernon, Indiana. Indiana State Road 46 intersects Indiana State Road 9 at this point. Both highways intersect US Route 31 about .5 miles east of this intersection. The two highways run together for about 7 miles. At this point Indiana State Road 9 continues north to Shelbyville, Indiana. Indiana State Road 46 continues northeast for almost 6 miles from this intersection, when it leaves Bartholomew County and enters Decatur County on its way to Greensburg, Indiana.

Indiana State Road 46 travels 9 miles in northern Ripley County. En route it intersects, from west to east, Indiana State Road 229, Indiana State Road 129 and Indiana State Road 101. It exits the county from Dearborn County to the east 1.5 miles from the intersection of Indiana State Road 101 at Penntown. It leaves Ripley County about 300 yards west, of its intersection with Indiana State Road 229, at Mitchell Avenue .

Indiana State Road 46 has two access points to Interstate 74 via Indiana State Road 101 at Penntown, Exit 156, and via Indiana State Road 229 at Batesville, Exit 149.

Indiana State Road 46 passes through three towns in Ripley County. The are, east to west, Penntown, Morris and Batesville.

Indiana State Road 46 enters Dearborn County from the west about 1.5 miles east of its intersection with Indiana State Road 101 in Ripley County. About 6.25 miles from the county line it intersects Indiana State Road 1 near St. Leon and has access to Interstate 74 via Indiana State Road 1 at Exit 164. About 5.2 miles further east it intersects US Route 52 where it again has access to Interstate 74 via Exit 169 near West Harrison, Indiana.
