Jennings County was founded 1817 and named for Indiana's first governor, Jonathan Jennings. It the only county in the United States named Jennings. Jennings County is a predominantly rural county consisting mainly of forest and farmland. The Hoosier National Forest occupies the southwest corner of the County and it is bisected by two rivers, the Muscatatuck and the East Fork of the White River.
