Jug Rock is the largest freestanding table rock formation in the United States east of the Mississippi River. The Nature preserve has two access points. One is on US Route 50 east of Shoals. The parking area is about 200 yards downhill from the Shoals Overlook Rest Park. The pull off is unmarked and on the north side of the highway. Another access point is White River Street that branches off Poplar Street that in turn intersects US Route 50.
It is illegal to climb on Jug Rock and doing so might result in severe injury or death as the top may topple. It is okay to climb to the top of the Pinnacle for a good view of Jug Rock
