Tyson Temple United Methodist Church

Tyson Temple United Methodist Church

Tyson Temple United Methodist Church was funded by the mother of Jim Tyson. Tyson Temple was designed by Odle, McGuire & Schook and was built at a cost of $150,000. It was dedicated in May 1937.

Nails were not used in the construction of the building. The chief building materials are stone, concrete, steel, terra cotta, brick, glazed and glass brick. Except for the furnishings no wood was used in its construction. The designation "temple" was used because, just as with the construction of the temple in Isreal, hammers were not heard during its construction.
