Lake Iola was is a man made lake constructed to provide water for power equipment. It was part of the Indianapolis and Louisville Traction Company which built railroad track between Sellersburg and Seymour Indiana. This was part of a longer line which extended from Indianapolis and Louiseville, Kentucky. The track was completed in 1907. It was abandonded in 1939. Lake Iola remains as a park owned by the town of Scottsburg. The foundation of a power plant and some track remain from the railroad operation, as well as a railroad car.
